US-Iran confrontation pushes up oil prices, Asian bonds may fall with US bonds

ChainCatcher news: Asian bond markets are expected to follow the US Treasuries lower as the US-Iran standoff keeps oil prices high, heightens inflation concerns and raises market bets on further Fed rate hikes.

New Zealand bonds opened lower and Australian Treasury futures could fall. Benchmark 10-year Treasury yields rose 11 basis points to a 19-year high of 5.27% at one point; 30-year yields rose to 5.55%. Morgan Stanley analyst Chris Larkin said market concerns are likely to remain focused on interest rates and energy prices.
