U.S. International Trade Commission investigates storage products of Micron and multiple server manufacturers

PANews reported on September 24 that the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) voted to launch an investigation into dynamic random access memory (DRAM), a major storage product produced by Micron Technology (MU.O), as well as multiple server manufacturers that use these chips in their products.

The federal agency said the investigation was based on a complaint filed on behalf of Irvine, Calif.-based storage vendor Netlist. The complaint alleges that the relevant companies violated U.S. federal tariff laws, alleging that certain DRAM devices and products containing these devices were imported and sold in the United States, infringing the company's patent rights. In addition to Micron, the USITC said it will also investigate server manufacturers Hewlett Packard Enterprise Technology, Advanced Micro Computer and Lenovo Group.
