South Korea's KOSPI index surged sharply, briefly triggering a buy-side circuit breaker.

PANews October 21 news: On Wednesday, due to a sharp rise in South Korea's KOSPI index, the Korea Exchange triggered the "buy-side" program trading suspension mechanism (Sidecar) for the benchmark index. According to the Korea Exchange, program trading for KOSPI-listed stocks was suspended at 10:51 a.m. local time for five minutes. After opening higher, the KOSPI index had climbed 247.81 points, or 4.46%, to 5,800.55 points as of 11:02 a.m. In the previous trading session, the index had plunged nearly 4% as investors worried about whether massive investments in AI infrastructure would generate corresponding profits.
