The new generation of the PayPal Mafia! 10 interns produced 4 unicorns.

Meta's Chief AI Officer and the founder of Hyperliquid appeared together for the first time in a decade; all three started as interns at the quantitative trading firm HRT and have since each built unicorn projects, making them a new-generation PayPal Mafia.

A photo posted by Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, with just one caption: The HRT intern crew is all together again! In the photo are three people who were all interns at the Wall Street quant firm HRT back then. Alexandr Wang: dropped out of MIT to found Scale AI, which Meta took a $14.3 billion stake in, and is now Meta Chief AI Officer. Scott Wu: three-time IOI gold medalist, built the AI programmer Devin, company valued at $48 billion. Jeff Yan: first heard about Bitcoin while interning at HRT, later built Hyperliquid with 11 people and zero funding.

In the winter of 2015, HRT recruited interns for the first time and took only 10 people. Ten years later, at least 4 of those 10 have produced unicorns. No wonder netizens call them the "new generation PayPal Mafia."
