Epic Games pushes "AI-first" development, requiring teams to use Claude and stop writing code by hand.

PANews October 13 news, according to Bloomberg, Epic Games has delayed its shooter game developed in collaboration with Disney that includes Marvel and Star Wars characters, which was originally scheduled to launch in March 2027. Epic has also asked the project team to adopt an "AI-first" production model, using tools such as Anthropic's Claude, while retaining human oversight throughout. According to reports, the game director asked the team in an internal message to stop hand-writing code, and all art content for the game will be generated through a fully AI workflow, which shocked some employees. Epic communications director Jake Jones said the company is embracing "AI-accelerated development" led by Epic developers. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney also posted on X that the company is shifting significantly toward "maximum AI acceleration," with the goal of enabling teams to make more and better work, rather than doing the same work with fewer people.
