UK and US coordinate AI model testing access; Trump previously restricted model sharing.

PANews October 12 news: UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan announced on Monday that the UK has been working closely with the US government to ensure that the UK AI Safety Institute continues to be able to gain testing access to the most powerful AI models before their release. Speaking in London, he said: "I want the UK to be one of the countries in the world that is hardest to attack with AI."

Last month, media reports said the Trump administration had asked OpenAI and Anthropic to hold back AI models from the UK until US authorities first deemed those models safe. Trump has been tightening global access to Silicon Valley AI models. Earlier this year, the US government banned Anthropic from releasing its latest model to foreign nationals. It was previously reported that Anthropic did not provide the UK AI Safety Institute with the latest version of its powerful Mythos model, and offered no explanation.
