OpenAI raises GPT-6.1 Sol's default context length to 500,000 tokens.

PANews October 12 news: Tibo Sottiaux, head of OpenAI Codex, posted on X platform that when using GPT-6.1 Sol through Codex and ChatGPT Work, the default context length has been increased from 272,000 tokens to 500,000 tokens, an increase of about 80%, which helps reduce the occurrence of context compaction and is more suitable for tasks that require retaining a large amount of context over a long period. Users can still adjust it themselves, and the maximum context length of GPT-6.1 Sol is 1 million tokens. He said that the default context length will be further increased in the future.
