A user downloaded a "fake wallet" from Huawei's official store and had 170,000 USDT stolen.

According to BlockBeats news, on October 5, a Douyin user (Mr. Li Yi) posted a video on social media saying that on June 10 this year, because he downloaded a "fake wallet" from Huawei's official store, the mnemonic phrase was exposed and 177,473 USDT were stolen.

According to the description, the hacker changed the permissions of his wallet address to multi-signature, and then the second scam claimed that it could be "unlocked with money." After the victim transferred money, all the USDT in the address was transferred by the hacker. Because the video he posted exposed the app's violations, the downloads of the app in the official mall dropped sharply. Hackers repeatedly gathered trolls to report his videos, which forced them to be taken off the shelves. They also tried to communicate privately to reach a "conditional video deletion" agreement.

Victims said that after private investigation, they learned that the fraudulent app has five servers in Hong Kong. They paid to put the app on Huawei's official mall and improve its ranking, so that a large number of victims downloaded the fraudulent app first in searches. Due to the relevant bans in mainland China, the relevant wallet apps cannot be launched on the mall normally, so the apps that "cannot be launched but do exist in the mall" may be fake and fraudulent apps.
