European Central Bank Executive Member Schnabel: Central bank currency must be on the chain

According to ChainCatcher news, Isabel Schnabel, a member of the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank, said that central bank currencies must enter the chain, otherwise the tokenized market will increasingly rely on private or foreign currency settlement assets.

CoinDesk quoted its opinion as saying that in the absence of on-chain central bank currency, settlement in the tokenized market will shift more to privately issued assets or assets denominated in foreign currencies. Schnabel believes that central bank currency on-chain will help maintain the settlement anchor role of public currencies in a tokenized environment.
