New Stylus contract activation suspended, Arbitrum responds to AI-assisted attack risks

Odaily Planet Daily News According to monitoring by the Arbitrum Security Committee, Arbitrum has taken emergency measures at around 23:30 on October 2, Beijing time, to temporarily prevent the activation of new Stylus contracts on the Arbitrum One and Nova networks. This restriction mainly targets programs and application updates that require new activation. Activated Stylus applications can continue to run, and the deployment and execution of ordinary Solidity contracts are not affected.

Arbitrum stated that this preventive measure stems from the WebAssembly program attack threat targeting the non-standard Stylus compiler tool chain. No risk of fund theft has been found so far. The main concerns are chain activity and denial of service attacks.
