Trump expected to appoint former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton as White House "AI czar"

Odaily Planet Daily News According to two people familiar with the matter, US President Trump is expected to appoint Jay Clayton, the current US Director of National Intelligence, as the new director of AI affairs ("AI Czar") in the White House. The decision may be announced as early as Friday, local time. White House officials responded that any personnel appointments would be announced directly by Trump himself, and that relevant reports before the official announcement were "baseless speculation."

Clayton, who is expected to remain in his role as director of national intelligence, previously served as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and led the SEC for much of Trump's first presidential term. Trump announced plans last month to establish an "AI Force" and appoint an AI director to address regulatory discussions surrounding the rapid development of AI; Trump has previously told Axios that Clayton is the right person for the position.
