SMBC Nikko joins forces with Nethermind, Uniswap Labs and others to develop Japan-compliant DeFi Gateway

Wu said that he learned that Japanese securities companies SMBC Nikko Securities and Nethermind announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Uniswap Labs, Base, and Nyx Foundation to jointly develop a DeFi Gateway for the Japanese market. The project plans to use Uniswap v4 Hooks to build a compliant liquidity pool framework, add AML/CFT and investor protection mechanisms to the pool, and explore AI-driven Vault, stablecoin and RWA liquidity strategies. The project is targeted to be completed by mid-2027, and development progress will be shared with regulatory agencies such as the Japan Financial Services Agency. Currently, the project is still in the development stage and is not a DeFi product that has been launched.
