If the proposal is approved and executed, ENSv1 will stop new domain registrations, but existing domains can still be renewed; ENS Labs will open ENSv2 registrations and upgrades for existing domains after completing the final sync, and will transfer the remaining administrative permissions to the DAO. ENS stated that existing .eth domains can continue to be used, and there is no deadline for upgrades. ENSv2 will enhance domain and subdomain management through a hierarchical registry and flexible permission settings.
