"Bitcoin Jesus" Roger Ver has reached an agreement with the Trump administration and will pay up to $49.9 million to settle U.S. tax charges.

PANews October 18 news, according to Reuters, early Bitcoin investor Roger Ver, known as "Bitcoin Jesus," has reached a deferred prosecution agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve criminal charges of mail fraud and tax evasion. Under the agreement, if Ver complies with the relevant terms, the indictment against him will be dismissed after one month, and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service may seek up to $49.9 million from him, covering taxes, civil penalties, and interest.

The U.S. Department of Justice previously alleged that Ver, after renouncing his U.S. citizenship in 2014 and obtaining citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis, failed to pay at least $48 million in taxes. Ver was arrested in Spain in April 2024. Earlier this year, he publicly called on Trump to help end the legal action against him, but ultimately did not receive a presidential pardon and instead resolved the case through an agreement with the Trump administration. Ver expressed gratitude that the case was resolved and thanked the Trump administration for its leadership and professional handling.
